Analyising Cheryl - Underneath the Sun

Analyising Cheryl - Underneath the Sun

Reference to looking / voyerism - The camera focuses on her legs and waist. This shows her costume which encourages voyerism. Whilst mid shots of her body when she isn't looking. Tracking slow and mirrors eyes looking her up and down from a male's point of view. This maybe a way to increase target audience. It also appeals to aspirations of females about what they "should" look like and how males "should" look them.
When she "looks" at us in a seductive but friendly way. This invites the spectator to experience voyerism and always males looking at her.
Intertextual - The scene where she is singing in the rain reminds the spectator about Singing in the Rain the movie. Also in the firt few shots she is in a old version of a cafe, reminds the spectator of a 50's american dinner.
Lyrics that link to the lyrics inlude when she is singing "sun" there is a sun image moving through the clouds.
Genre characteristics - During the music video the guys were dressed up in suits dancing around her, lifting her onto the car. This has continuity editing. Where as temporal editing occurred in one shot it was dark and the next it was daylight. For example in the second dance routine with the males dressed up in suits it's dark and then in the next shot it was suddenly daylight.
