Lyrics matching to visuals - The first line of the song is "Clinging to me". There is a mid shot of Ellie Goulding singing but a delayed visual relating to the lyrics, where a long shot of couple is clinging onto each other. Around 1:00 in the music video. Ellie Goulding sings "there is trouble ahead, I can feel it." There is a close up of her singing, sitting on the sofa. Then around 1:04-1:06 is a close up of the nurse looking down opposite the actress, in the actress' point of view. This suggests that the nurse had some bad news to tell the actress. Suddenly the shot changes point of view. The same shot, but this time from the nurses point of view. This is when we can see the actress with tears in her eyes but not quite coming out. When Ellie Goulding sings "I know you care." At 1:26-1:29 this time the visuals perfectly match to the lyrics as the actor helps bathe the actress. Ellie Goulding sings "Two lovers" at 1:48 and then a few seconds later, 1:52 there is a close up of the actor putting his hand on the actress' chin. This was the actress' point of view shot. Showing that they are lovers. At 2:35 Ellie Goulding sings "winter so cold/
Now I don't warm my hands in your coat, and it's a close up of her singing again and then there are two shots of the actor and the actress in the snow. One close up of the actress speaking to the actor, it's from the actor's point of view. Then fades to a long shot of the actor having his arm around the actress on a bench in the snow.
Selling the artist - Through out the music video, there are a lot of close ups of Ellie Goulding singing. In this video Ellie Goulding doesn't do any dance routines. This makes her unconventional, but this means with all the close ups of her singing the audience can relate to her more than any other artist.
Music/ Visuals - There is editing, cutting and fading to the beat during this music video. An example would be at 0:05, where there is a long shot of the horses are running in a field.
