In our media lesson we study lighting techniques which would help our music video have more depth.
Instead of having one light shining on the actor or actress in the music video, two would be better so that one is a key light, and instead of getting a shadow on the other side of the face we'd use the second light to light up that area.
If the light is too strong, bouncing the light off a door or a reflector or even the actor / actress' face. If the light is bouncing off the actor or actress' face, if using colour card for example pink card, the pink glow will show on their faces to give a warm feel. If wanting a cold feel then choose cold colours such as blue.
Learning about streak lighting was interesting. We learnt how to make our own.
This is a video we watched about streak lighting
In our lesson we were also told that manual focus was essential during our music video because we can focus on the actress or the background so the other is slightly blurry, and so we can alter how much light is going into the camera.
Above and below are examples of our lighting lesson we had in college, with the flood lights. The camera in front is where we got taught the difference between soft focus and manual focus.
